Take advantage of Marija Temo in Cleveland teaching her method for flamenco communication over a 3-day intensive this August!
As many of you know, my approach to teaching flamenco is not one of memorizing choreographies and imitating others. Rather, it’s about understanding the music, culture, and history so that when YOU dance, you are dancing flamenco authentically not just to the form itself but from who you are.
On my own flamenco journey, I’ve had (and have) several mentors who have nurtured this approach. We are lucky enough to have one of them - Marija Temo - coming to town in August to teach a short flamenco intensive. Her method of defining flamenco structure and music greatly helped me to interpret the music and I’m honored to teach alongside her.
The mornings of her workshop are for flamenco musicians and dancers with material they want to workshop alongside their peers in a tablao laboratory. The afternoons are filled with bulerias, one of flamenco’s most flexible, challenging, and fun styles. In these afternoon classes, you’ll learn tools to become more fluent in flamenco and understand the communication codes embedded in the movement and music.
If you have questions about the intensive, let me know! I want to see as many people in Cleveland taking advantage of Marija’s knowledge as possible.
