Martinete con bastón

  • Murphy Irish Arts Center 24000 Mercantile Road #10 Beachwood, OH, 44122 United States (map)

This fall, dive into the raw power and rhythmic precision of the martinete—one of flamenco’s oldest and most evocative palos—in this intermediate-level technique and repertory class. We'll work with the bastón (cane), exploring percussive footwork, upper body control, and the dramatic intensity unique to this form.

Designed for dancers with a proficient command of compás, this class will challenge and expand your musicality and movement vocabulary. Students will have the opportunity to perform the piece at our December 18th performance at Quinta Esencia Tapas in Parma.

Students will need to provide their own bastón (cane). It should be wood and have any cap on the bottom removed so it’s wood hitting the floor. You can purchase canes suitable for flamenco on Amazon - just search wooden cane.

$25/class or $290 for the full session

For students who register for the full session, study videos will be sent most weeks reviewing new material.

Classes run Mondays from 7:40-8:55pm

No classes November 10th or 17th
